Watches: Only Watch 2017 Moritz Grossmann 'HOMAGE'

July 05, 2017

Only Watch is back! And this year the charity auction is bigger and better then ever before. First up I wanted to highlight a watch that ticks all the boxes for me from an aesthetic perspective - the delightfully elegant Moritz Grossmann 'HOMAGE'. Now generally brands produce one watch for Only Watch - but that isn't the case with Moritz Grossmann - they have opted to look back to their roots and present a double lot, linking contemporary design with their heritage.

So that being said they are auctioning an original Moritz Grossmann pocket-watch (super cool!) from their private collection. It was made around 1875, this piece showcases Moritz Grossmann signature features such as chatoned movement, chronometer balance with diamond endstone, 16-tooth escape wheel, Grossmann handsetting rocker and Maltese cross stopwork on the mainspring barrel.

Secondly, they are offering a rose gold ATUM with enamel dial and blue-steel poire hands to match. Within is the calibre 100.1 movement – designed and built in-house. It includes the Grossmann balance, modified Glashütte stopwork and pillar movement reminiscent of traditional pocket chronometers. Contemporary styling, a historic face and our impeccable hand-made finish creates a watch to tell a story as well as tell the time.

The winner of this double lot will also have the opprtunity to visit the legendary town of Glashütte as their guest. Tour the amazing museum that once housed the German School of Watchmaking, established by Moritz Grossmann in 1878.  All in - a cracking lot.
